Why Klompen Stampers????

Ever wonder why I call my Stampin’ Up! business Klompen Stampers?  or my demonstrator team Klompen Stampers?  This time of the year I am always reminded of why……

As you may know, I live in ZEELAND, MICHIGAN, which is next to HOLLAND, MICHIGAN.  We are a very Dutch community and every year they have the TULIP FESTIVAL!  It’s a huge deal here and all the little kids get dressed up in Dutch customers!  This is an OLD photo album page from about the same time I started being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator!  Yep–that is how little my “littles” were!

Back to Klompen Stampers

A huge part of the festival are the KLOMPEN DANCERS–otherwise known as Dutch Dancers.  So when I started and was able to name my team, for some reason KLOMPEN STAMPERS just rolled off of my tongue!  So for the last 23+ years, I have used the name KLOMPEN STAMPERS!

In case you want to see what the Klompen Dancers do, here is a short video I found online.

Even the High School Band marches in wooden shoes and played “Tip Toe Through the Tulips!”

This is one of my favorite pictures of the kids.  It was from a few years later!

So now you know the rest of the story…..

Have a stamp happy day and if you see some tulips–tip toe through them!

Jackie

  1. So Cute.

We have a 3 week tulip festival here in Ottawa (Canada’s capital). It just started yesterday and we are going to see some of the beautiful tulips today.
Our city if full of color as the tulips are planted throughout.

I love all of your videos and look forward to the next one.
what sweet girls love the photos.
I am from Georgia but my daughter lives in Harrison,Mi and we were actually there this last weekend for the tulip festival. All the tulips were beautiful and enjoyed learning and seeing all the Dutch culture. I knew you were close to there. Love Michigan, except in the winter.
Thanks for posting all the pictures. Linda
